Alta Vista and Google weight reciprocal links at an importance level of
approximately 80% and 90%, respectively) Search engines determine the link
popularity of your web site by the number of reciprocal links to your web
site. The more links pointing to your web site the higher your ranking.
Additionally, reciprocal links (to your web site from another related web
site) can generate significant referral traffic. Many web sites receive more
traffic from reciprocal links than they do from search engines. Forrester
Research estimates 59% of browsers use links to find web sites on the
Internet.
